About the Artist
I come from a large family of creative people. I have seven sisters, and four of us became artists. My father was a lithographer, so paper was always plentiful. The kitchen table was a center of creativity from the time I was a baby learning from my older sisters until it became my turn to pass down the love of color and design to my younger sisters. I toyed with the idea of working in fashion, but pursued a practical career route in libraries instead. I am a person who needs to express my feelings visually and I have always done so in one way or another. I paint because the combination of all of life’s richness and beauty motivates me to paint. I’ve been painting, predominantly in oils, for over twenty years.
I live in the historic Riverview section of Norfolk, one of the seven cities of Hampton Roads, Virginia, with my husband and two terrier dogs. My studio is located at One Eleven Art Gallery and Studios, 111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia, 23504. Gallery hours are 11a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
I am a member of Tidewater Art Alliance and The Hampton Arts League.
My work has been exhibited at various museums and galleries in the Hampton Roads area, including the Courthouse Gallery, Portsmouth; Suffolk Museum of Art; the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Newport News; the Charles H. Taylor Center, Hampton and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.
