This painting went to the Charles H Taylor Center in Hampton yesterday as my submission to the Hampton Art’s League Open Member’s Show this year. The opening reception for the show is next Saturday, January 28, from 3 to 5:30 pm and the exhibit runs through February 26.

The Virginia Home and Garden Show has been changed this year to an exposition on flowers and gardening, and moved from March to the end of January. This should make for a beautiful exposition, concentrating on everything about gardens, gardening and flowers. I am participating in the Artist’s Alley again this year, the art show by local and regional artists, and will have some large oil florals for sale as well as a selection of small paintings, high quality prints and greeting cards. Watercolor 11″ x 15″. I painted stodgy old Rabbit purple instead of his usual drab color; for some reason it seemed appropriate. Maybe Rabbit is letting down his guard and expandding, opening up to the spiritual in his life and letting go of his obsessive pre-occupation with the mundane and the material!

My Pooh Bear

11″ x 15″, Watercolor and ink. I watched the old Winnie the Pooh stories with my oldest son a couple months ago just for nostalgia’s sake; we watched them often when he was a little boy. I drew this Pooh Bear while watching the shows.

Fish from Lake Minnetonka

Acrylic, 15″ x 11″; from a photo of a fish my nephew caught while we were boating on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota last summer. The fun part was getting a photo of this slippery little fish while my nephew was trying to hold on to it; we did let the fish go, released it back into the lake.
